Those BIG Doors
The house is designed around the panaramic ocean view so the large glass sliders on the Makai side are a key component. Stephen was able to put the door frames together but they (and the glass panels) were so heavy he couldnʻt just lift them into place.
How many people do you know who would give up a day of their Hawaiʻi vacation to come help with your construction project? Luckily the Hackford-Peer family is part of our life and they came to the rescue. Pretty neat to have some of our favorite people in the whole world help with this!
Kim was in her element - who needs snorkling when you can build something on vacation!
Ruth prepped the doorframe to the room she calls "Ruthʻs Room."
Six doors installed - A really good days work!
But sill lots of details for Stephen to finish up.
Love the font door!
All that was left was the REALLY big door. The 22 footer of the Party Room was a whole other story. Once Stephen got the frame put together it was so big and heavy, it was going to be a real challenge to lift. (just to make sure everyone undertands how big this door is...)
Dave pulled the whole crew from other jobs to come install this door.
Check it out!
